Picture hanging

Hanging pictures and gallery walls

Pictures should hang straight, at the right height and on a wall that can hold them. We bring the drill bits, plugs and spirit level – you just point.

We come by bike

We hang the pictures, you decide where

Many of our jobs start with a stack of pictures that has been leaning against the wall for months. That’s understandable. Copenhagen walls can be tricky: concrete that won’t take a drill, old plastered walls that crumble, and plasterboard (gips) that can’t hold anything without the right plugs.

We have the kit for every type of wall. Show us where the pictures should go. We measure, mark, drill and make sure everything hangs level. If something isn’t quite how you want it, we move it while we’re there. We also vacuum up after ourselves.

Pictures without a hook or string

Frame has nothing to hang it by? We’ll sort it. We bring the materials and give you two options:

String or picture wire

We fit a strong string or wire to the back of the frame. It’s the cheapest option and makes it easy to adjust the picture afterwards.

Hanging bracket

A bracket is screwed to the top of the frame and hung on a screw in the wall. It’s gentle on the frame and keeps the picture close to the wall. A bracket costs a little more per piece than string.

Gallery walls: planning is most of the work

A gallery wall gives a home personality. It can bring family photos, posters and art together in one look. But it only works if the gaps are even and the lines line up.

We start by laying the pictures out on the floor with you, so you can see the whole thing. Then we measure so spacing and edges match before we drill the first hole.

Henrik’s tip: Cut the outlines of your frames out of paper and tape them to the wall the evening before. That way you’ve tried the layout before we arrive, and you save time.

Renting? Ask before the big holes

Most Copenhagen leases allow normal picture hanging. If you’re planning a big gallery wall or a heavy mirror in a rental, check with your landlord first. When you move out, we can also fill and sand the holes before the move-out inspection. Read more on our page for expats.

What does picture hanging cost?

We charge 579 DKK an hour incl. VAT plus a 399 DKK start fee. The fee covers transport in central Copenhagen as well as plugs and screws. In one hour we usually manage 5–10 pictures, depending on the wall and the frames. A gallery wall normally takes a couple of hours because the measuring takes longer.
